Fellow Corvo EKG Pro for Tea: Setup, Temperatures and Buying Guide

Fellow Corvo EKG Pro is the more natural Fellow kettle for tea. Its wide spout pours quickly into a mug or teapot, while adjustable temperature helps you follow the instructions for different leaves. Choose Stagg EKG Pro instead if controlled manual coffee pour-over is your main job and tea is occasional.

What Corvo Pro does for tea

The practical benefit is choosing your water temperature rather than boiling by default. Fellow gives Corvo Pro a temperature range of 104°F–212°F, with Guide Mode presets for tea types and brewing methods. The guide is a starting point; the tea producer’s packet instructions take precedence for a particular leaf or blend.

Corvo also offers scheduling, a brew stopwatch and adjustable hold settings. Those features can make a repeated morning routine convenient, but they do not brew the tea for you. You still need to measure leaves, pour water into a separate vessel, time the infusion and remove the leaves. The kettle should contain water, not a tea bag, loose leaf or milk.

A starter temperature and time reference

Tea producers use different recipes, so treat this as an example reference rather than a universal rule. Harney & Sons gives the following Western-style starting instructions. Follow your tea’s own label, especially for delicate Japanese greens, tightly rolled oolongs and blends with added ingredients.

Tea familyExample water settingExample infusion
White175°F3 minutes
Green175°F1–3 minutes
Oolong180°F–212°F1–5 minutes, depending on tea
Black212°F5 minutes

The broad oolong range is intentional: lightly oxidized and heavily roasted teas can call for different temperatures. A kettle cannot infer which leaf is in your cup. Repeated short infusions or gongfu brewing use different proportions and timings, so do not apply this table to those methods without a suitable recipe.

A simple Corvo tea routine

First, read the packet for grams of leaf, water volume, temperature and time. Weigh the leaf into a basket infuser or teapot that gives it room to open. Fill the kettle with fresh water within its marked limits, set the required temperature and prepare your cup. A 0.9 L kettle suits a small tea routine but is not a large-party water boiler.

Once the water reaches the target, pour into the brewing vessel and start timing the infusion. Remove the basket or strain the tea when the specified time is reached. Leaving the leaves in a travel mug while you drink can keep extracting flavor beyond the intended recipe. Let the drink cool to a comfortable drinking temperature before tasting.

If the tea is too harsh, try a shorter infusion or the producer’s lower recommended temperature. If it seems weak, check the measured leaf dose before extending the steep indefinitely. Change one variable at a time. More heat is not always the adjustment that makes a cup more enjoyable.

A useful Fellow tea station without unnecessary purchases

Start with Corvo, your preferred tea and an appropriately sized infuser or teapot. Tally Pro is an optional addition if you also make pour-over coffee or enjoy measuring every recipe. Its weight and timer modes are useful; coffee-focused Brew Assist does not replace a tea recipe. Do not buy a grinder for loose-leaf tea: coffee grinding would change the leaf and is not the intended use.

Keep tea dry and separate from strong coffee aromas. An existing clean tea tin may be all you need. Buying a matching storage accessory is a preference rather than a requirement for good tea. Avoid putting dusty powders into vacuum hardware unless the manufacturer approves that use.

Can you make matcha with Corvo?

Corvo can supply water at the temperature specified by your matcha producer. Matcha is whisked as a suspension in a separate bowl; it is not brewed inside the kettle and not filtered through a coffee dripper. Use the appropriate whisk and bowl, and follow the product’s ratio. If preparing a latte, heat milk separately using equipment intended for milk.

A tea setup and a coffee setup can share a kettle or scale, but keep vessels clean so old coffee oils do not flavor delicate tea. For a coffee-focused equipment plan, read our all-Fellow pour-over setup; it explains why that workflow uses Stagg rather than Corvo.

Pros, limits and care

Reasons to choose Corvo Pro: the wide spout, variable temperature, tea guidance and hold options support frequent small tea brews. Reasons to choose something else: the premium cost, 0.9 L limit or a preference for a larger, simpler boiling kettle. Pro Studio changes materials and styling; do not assume that name means a larger capacity.

Use the US electrical version for a US setup and check the selected marketplace listing. Follow Fellow’s instructions for cleaning and descaling, keep the electrical base dry and do not overfill. Altitude affects boiling temperature, so use the kettle’s altitude guidance rather than expecting a full boil to behave identically everywhere.

See Corvo EKG Pro on Amazon for the tea-focused choice, or Stagg EKG Pro on Amazon for a shared station centered on manual pour-over.
